NVIDIA’s VP of Robotics calls on Chinese firms to collaborate on Physical AI at Macau’s BEYOND Expo; names AgiBot and Unitree specifically

On May 27, the sixth BEYOND International Innovation and Technology Expo kicked off in Macau. Deepu Talla, vice president at NVIDIA overseeing robotics and related businesses, delivered a keynote speech calling for collaboration in the field of “Physical AI.” Talla emphasized that Physical AI “will be the most exciting domain over the next 10 to 20 years,” noting that manipulating objects in the physical world “requires extreme precision.” To achieve widespread societal adoption, robots must undergo extensive and diverse simulation training in virtual environments. He revealed that NVIDIA is partnering with companies worldwide, specifically naming two leading Chinese robotics firms—AgiBot and Unitree Robotics—as collaborators. Approximately 800 companies participated in this expo, with Talla stating that over 50 of them are NVIDIA partners; the event ran through May 30.

NVIDIA’s actions reflect its urgent desire to break into the Chinese market via Physical AI. Although the U.S. government conditionally approved NVIDIA’s export of high-performance H200 chips to Chinese clients, China continues advancing self-reliance in computing capabilities, leaving such exports yet to materialize. With access to large-model chips restricted, NVIDIA aims to maintain technological ties with China’s industry within the Physical AI supply chain by offering its robotics development platform—which provides virtual simulation tools and data training support.
