On May 18, the State Power Investment Corporation Smart Energy Innovation Institute at Shanghai Jiao Tong University released an official statement. Upon investigation, it was found that a male undergraduate student surnamed Fan collaborated with others to participate in the first national “AI + Energy” College Students’ Technological Innovation Competition, where they won second prize. After the competition, he repeatedly told his partners that the prize money hadn’t been paid out; in reality, the ¥5,000 award had already been deposited into his account in early February this year. When confronted, he falsely claimed that only ¥2,000 had been received and even showed them a fake receipt marked “Generated by Doubao AI.” Despite promises made during mediation by the university’s student affairs office to pay back ¥4,500, Fan failed to fulfill his obligations.
After this incident became public via campus platforms, the university formed a special task force to conduct further checks. As a result, disciplinary actions were taken: Fan received a serious warning, was removed from the pool of Party membership aspirants, lost eligibility for the “Rongchang Talent Development Program,” and was disqualified from transferring to another major. He also voluntarily withdrew from related summer programs. In its statement, Shanghai Jiao Tong University emphasized its zero-tolerance policy toward acts of dishonesty; any such behavior confirmed through investigation will be dealt with strictly according to regulations.
