Doubao officially launches Professional Edition, three-tier subscription starting at 68 yuan/month, adds office task mode

ByteDance’s AI product Doubao officially launched its Professional Edition on June 24, based on the latest Doubao 2.1 series large models, targeting professional users and productivity scenarios. The core new feature of the Professional Edition is the „Office Task Mode“: Professional Edition users have access to the Doubao 2.1 Pro model, while free users can experience the version powered by Doubao 2.1 Turbo. This mode allows users to operate their local computer and browser (with authorization), call Skills packages (the first batch covering documents, spreadsheets, presentations, creative design, visualization, and financial professional skills), set scheduled tasks, has an integrated Office online suite, and supports generating and deploying production-level web applications with a backend database (the backend database feature is in grayscale testing). Doubao stated that subscriptions adopt a three-tiered pricing structure: the standard plan is ¥68/month for continuous subscription, offering over 5 times the quota of the free version; the enhanced plan is ¥200/month, providing 4 times the quota of the standard plan; and the premium plan is ¥500/month, offering 10 times the quota of the standard plan.

In terms of user coverage, Doubao is also launching an education discount: verified university students can get the standard plan at a discounted price of ¥38/month (from ¥68), and will receive an additional six months of free quota. Additionally, a special offer program will be available for visually impaired users. Doubao emphasized that for most everyday scenarios, the existing free version’s features and quota are sufficient to meet usage needs, and free users will also receive updates for new models and new capabilities in the future.
