According to a report by Taiwan’s United Daily News, Tesla is working closely with Taiwanese suppliers to prepare for the mass production of its Optimus humanoid robot. Among them, automation equipment supplier Mirle Automation has started supplying harmonic reducers and joint modules to Tesla. Mirle is also jointly setting up a factory in Rayong, Thailand with Shenzhen Kedali Industry, leveraging Kedali’s existing facilities, which is expected to enable a relatively quick start to mass production of harmonic reducers, robot actuators, and precision parts. Optical components supplier Asia Optical, leveraging its spherical and aspherical lens technology, will be responsible for providing the vision system (“eyes”) for the Optimus 3 robot. Mass production of the new product is expected to gradually ramp up from the second half of this year to 2027, aligning with Tesla’s announced timeline for robot mass production.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in March of this year that Optimus 3 will be “the most advanced robot in the world by far,” with low-volume production potentially starting this summer and high-volume mass production beginning in 2027. At the 2025 annual shareholder meeting, he stated that the company is building a production line in Fremont, California with an annual capacity of 1 million units, and will build another line in the Texas Gigafactory with an annual capacity of 1 million units. Wccftech’s report also notes that peripheral information shows the Steam Machine starts at $1,049 and pre-orders are open today.
