WeChat teams up with Huawei, Honor, and five other phone makers to open A2A voice control, with Honor models leading the rollout

According to a June 2 report from IT Home, Tencent Customer Service has confirmed that WeChat is collaborating with Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo to launch A2A (Agent-to-Agent) assistant capabilities. Users will be able to send messages or initiate audio/video calls directly to WeChat via their phone’s voice assistant, with a dual-authorization mechanism in place throughout the process to ensure data security and privacy compliance. Honor has been the first to roll it out: with the YOYO AI agent updated to version 30.10.30.063 or later and WeChat updated to version 8.0.72 or later, it can be used on devices such as the Magic8, Honor 500, and X70 series. This A2A solution involves the manufacturer’s AI assistant sending standardized commands to WeChat, which then executes and returns the result, bypassing the earlier high-permission route of screen reading and simulated clicks, and also differs from the voice control permissions that WeChat had previously retracted due to privacy concerns.
