Counterpoint: Global memory market projected at 1,500 trillion won in 2026, a 4x growth from previous year

Global market research firm Counterpoint Research, citing a memory tracker, forecasts that the global memory market will grow approximately four-fold year-on-year to around 1,500 trillion won (approximately $1 trillion) by 2026, driven by demand for AI infrastructure. The share of server memory in total revenue is expected to expand from 37% in 2025 to 56% in 2026, and the price rally due to this supply-demand imbalance is projected to continue through the first half of 2027.

A notable phenomenon is that as supply constraints deepen due to a surge in demand for server products, the price per gigabit of commodity DRAM, which has a simpler process, has overtaken that of high-value HBM. However, the analysis adds that HBM also has significant potential for further price increases in the future, and that there is a downside risk after the second half of 2027 due to a supply-demand rebalancing.
