According to a report by Kuaikeji (fast technology), a regulatory document shows that the Swedish Transport Administration (TRV) has submitted a letter dated April 30 to the European Union’s Technical Committee of Motor Vehicles (TCMV), recommending a vote against Tesla’s “Supervised FSD” rollout across Europe, on the condition that Tesla must disable the system’s speeding function. Tesla’s FSD system features a customizable “speed offset” setting, allowing drivers to set a value that enables the vehicle to travel faster than the posted legal speed limit. In the letter, the Swedish Transport Administration explicitly stated that allowing autonomous driving systems to routinely exceed legal speed limits would not only undermine the existing regulatory framework but also diminish the safety benefits that vehicle automation technology is supposed to provide.
The agency requested that Tesla remove the aforementioned speeding function and made it clear that if Tesla fails to comply, it would recommend the Technical Committee of Motor Vehicles to vote against the proposal for the technology’s deployment. At present, the European Commission has not yet commented on this, and Tesla has not made a public response either.
