DeepSeek forms Harness team to develop its own code Agent

On May 20, DeepSeek team member Deli Chen announced on X that DeepSeek is forming a brand-new Harness team tasked with building a code Agent product from scratch — "Model + Harness = Agent“. This team will handle everything beyond the model itself, ensuring a fully integrated Agent product. Currently, two full-time positions based in Beijing are open: an Agent Harness Product Manager and a Harness R&D Engineer. These roles were posted on May 15. The job descriptions draw comparisons to existing Harness products such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and OpenClaw. In a rather informal tone, the recruitment notice even suggested that the product might be called something like “DeepSeek Code, hhh“. One particularly intriguing requirement listed among preferred qualifications is: “any other extraordinary talents related to this role.“
