Dreame cuts 12% of staff and consolidates over 200 business units, refocusing on four core sectors: cleaning, home appliances, mobility, and embodied AI

According to HardKr, Dreame Group has recently initiated a large-scale strategic contraction, consolidating its existing business units (BUs) into four main business segments: whole-home smart cleaning (including indoor and outdoor courtyard cleaning), smart home appliances, smart mobility, and AI embodied intelligence. BUs without actual business operations and staffing will be directly canceled, with the merger involving over 200 business units. The reduction ratio is approximately 12%, slightly higher than the company’s annual mid-year elimination rate of 10%. Most functional personnel with transferable skills (finance, legal, marketing, etc.) as well as R&D and sales staff can be transferred through internal transfer channels. Laid-off employees will receive compensation ranging from 0.5 to N+1, with new employees still within the 6-month probation period being the most affected. The brand portfolio remains unchanged, continuing to sell under the Dreame, MOVA, NAVEE, SKYMOTOR, and Maga Atom brands.

Currently, the largest segment, smart cleaning, employs nearly 12,000 people, accounting for over 50% of the company’s total workforce, of which over 70% are R&D personnel. In this adjustment, Dreame will also establish an Industrial Research Institute. Areas such as mobile phones, automobiles, and other heavy R&D, long-cycle directions will be placed under the institute for specialized operations, focusing solely on technology R&D and industry-academia collaboration, without undertaking daily sales functions for product lines. Dreame stated that this strategic adjustment aims to concentrate resources on increasing R&D investment in core technologies and enhancing the global influence of its products.
