Telegram launches $200,000 Digital Freedom Contest, requiring 10,000-view videos built around Durov's speech

Telegram has announced a Digital Freedom Contest with a total prize fund of $200,000, open to content creators worldwide. Participants must produce a video promoting digital freedom, post it to at least one of five platforms — TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat Spotlights, or X — and reach a minimum of 10,000 authentic views before the July 15 deadline (23:59 Dubai time). Each submission must incorporate ideas and footage from a speech by Telegram founder Pavel Durov; creators may supplement that material with other content and may enter multiple videos across multiple platforms, in any language and using any tools. Results are scheduled to be announced in August 2026.

Videos judged to be low quality or suspected of using non-organic views will be disqualified; all other qualifying entries will share in the prize fund proportionally. Telegram said it will publish submission instructions on July 6 in the same channel. The contest, which Telegram describes as its most ambitious creator campaign to date, follows a broader push by Durov to position the platform as a champion of online speech and privacy — themes that have gained renewed attention following his legal troubles in France in late 2024 and subsequent public statements.
