On May 28, BYD held its “Dare to Act” intelligent strategy launch event at its global headquarters in Shenzhen. Chairman and President Wang Chuanfu announced that, starting immediately, for all new vehicles equipped with God’s Eye A or B, as well as existing owners who have upgraded to God’s Eye 5.0 via OTA, BYD will provide one year of guaranteed coverage for urban navigation: in the event of a traffic accident caused by the assisted driving function, BYD will fully cover the vehicle repair costs, third-party property damage, and personal injury losses that the vehicle is liable for, with no cap. Wang cited data showing that currently less than 2% of vehicles on urban roads have urban navigation capabilities, and 70% of users rarely or never use them because they find them “hard to use” or “don’t dare to use them.” The main barriers are high prices and a lack of confidence in the technology.
