Famed author Nanpai Sanshu (whose real name is Xu Lei) recently appeared on the lifestyle program “1818 Golden Eye” to publicly assert his rights over the hit web series “Southern Files”, adapted from his original work and polished over seven years. According to Fast Technology, Nanpai Sanshu stated that just ten minutes after an official episode is released, complete resources are already circulating across various cloud drives and available for download. Platform monitoring data shows that the popularity and viewership of pirated channels far exceed those of the legitimate version, creating an abnormal situation of severely inverted traffic. He also revealed that some pirates act arrogantly, privately messaging to taunt and provoke him, flouting copyright law. He warned that the rampant spread of piracy will, over time, stifle the industry’s motivation for continuous creation.
Reporter for the program subsequently contacted Quark Cloud Drive and Baidu Cloud Drive regarding the cloud drive piracy issue. Customer service at Quark Cloud Drive stated they will safeguard creators’ rights in accordance with the law and provide a dedicated copyright infringement complaint portal. Baidu Cloud Drive explained that rights holders can submit rights protection applications through the official copyright complaint platform. Major legitimate streaming platforms simultaneously stated that they already have professional teams handling piracy reports around the clock and promptly removing infringing resources.
