WeChat Pay officially launches AI-exclusive card, with WorkBuddy as first adopter and Meituan group-buy payment as initial scenario

On June 17, WeChat Pay officially launched the “AI Exclusive Card”, a feature built into WeChat Balance designed specifically for AI agent payment scenarios. The first partner to integrate is Tencent’s desktop office AI agent WorkBuddy — users can call upon the “Meituan Life Assistant” on WorkBuddy’s “Expert” page, express their consumption needs in natural language (e.g. “What good food deals are nearby?”), and the AI agent will handle recommendations and placing orders. After the user confirms on their phone, the payment is deducted from the AI Exclusive Card, and payment is verified upon arrival at the store. This feature is currently supported on the WorkBuddy Mac client (version 5.1.1 and above), with more versions to follow. In terms of fund security, the AI Exclusive Card is completely isolated from the main WeChat Pay account. The card balance is topped up by the user themselves. The AI agent does not access account passwords or use funds from the main account, and every payment requires a second confirmation on the user’s phone. WeChat Pay said it will open up the feature to more AI agents that meet the integration standards going forward.
