China's electric two-wheeler exports exceeded 26.7 million units in 2025, with prices in Europe and US 2 to 8 times higher than domestic

Chinese electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers are riding a wave of global expansion. According to CCTV Finance reported on June 2, 2025, the annual export of domestically produced electric two-wheelers exceeded 26.7 million units, with export value reaching 6.829 billion USD, maintaining a steady year-on-year increase. An electric three-wheeler priced between 2,000 and 5,000 yuan in China can sell for between 3,000 and 6,000 USD in European and American markets, with its value generally increasing by 2 to 8 times. Data from Xuzhou Customs shows that from January to April this year, the export value of electric three-wheelers from Xuzhou surpassed 168 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 87.2%, and component exports reached 115 million yuan, up 29.55% year-on-year.

On the industrial side, Feng County in Jiangsu is the country’s largest production base for electric three-wheelers, holding over 90% of the accessory market share. The core area of Wuxi Xishan is home to the headquarters or bases of 6 of the top 10 electric vehicle companies in China, along with over 600 supporting enterprises, forming a ‘one-hour industrial circle’. Data from Wuxi Customs indicates that local electric vehicle exports have grown for nine consecutive years. In 2025, the export growth rate was 14 percentage points faster than the national average for similar products, with the annual export volume this year expected to double. On the demand side, surging international oil prices and carbon reduction policies in various countries are key drivers: A Philippine distributor noted that the energy cost of an electric two-wheeler is only one-tenth that of a gasoline vehicle. The Chilean government has set a target for full electrification of imported vehicles by 2035, and the rigid demand from local farmers for electric cargo vehicles is accelerating.
