On May 28, ahead of Computex 2026, Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon C, a new chip platform targeting entry-level Windows laptops with a starting price of $300, aimed at students, families, and small business users. Snapdragon C is built on the Arm architecture and integrates an NPU to support on-device AI features. Qualcomm promises all-day battery life and a silent, fanless design. However, the chip does not use the Oryon CPU core found in the flagship series, nor does it support the full suite of Microsoft Copilot+ AI PC features. The Acer Aspire Go 15 (8GB RAM + 512GB SSD) is among the first confirmed models, with HP and Lenovo expected to follow suit. None of the manufacturers have yet announced specific pricing or availability. Qualcomm says it will reveal more details during its Computex keynote. This launch marks the first time the Snapdragon series has ventured into the entry-level price bracket since entering the Windows market years ago — previously, Windows laptops powered by the Snapdragon X series typically started in the $500 to $600 range. The Register notes the timing is delicate: with DRAM prices rising due to supply constraints, it remains uncertain whether mass-produced units can actually hit the $300 target. On the market front, Snapdragon C will go head-to-head with Intel N-series and MediaTek Kompanio-series Chromebooks, as well as AMD Mendocino processors. Apple, meanwhile, just launched the $599 MacBook Neo (powered by the A18 Pro), further squeezing the premium margin for budget Windows laptops.
