CapCut (international version of Jianying) officially released a standalone app for Android tablets, CapCut Pad, on May 28. Previously, Android tablet users could only use an enlarged version of the phone interface. The new app brings a desktop-level editing experience, with features including multi-track timeline, keyframe animation, chroma key (green screen), background removal, stabilization tools, and AI-assisted editing. It supports exporting up to 4K 60fps HDR video. According to Android Authority, the app also supports cross-device接力 editing, allowing users to seamlessly switch the same project between phones, desktops, and tablets.
CapCut Pad for iPad was launched in December 2025, and this Android version is an expansion of that release. The app is now available as a free download on Google Play, and during a limited-time promotion, all features are fully unlocked without a subscription, including all filters, effects, and music assets. However, CapCut noted that some advanced features may become paid in the future, with a reference price starting at around $7.99 per month based on the mobile version.
