NVIDIA retires 20-year-old Control Panel with Game Ready Driver 610.47, replaced by unified NVIDIA App

With the release of Game Ready Driver 610.47, NVIDIA has officially retired its classic Control Panel for GeForce Game Ready and Studio Driver users, ending roughly 20 years of service. According to NVIDIA, all actively supported Control Panel features for GeForce users have been migrated to the NVIDIA App, which the company first introduced in 2024 as a unified replacement for both the Control Panel and GeForce Experience. Existing installations will remain on users’ systems and the app can still be downloaded from the Microsoft Store, but NVIDIA confirmed it will no longer add new features, fixes, or other changes. The Control Panel will be removed only if users perform a clean driver installation.

The retirement applies to Game Ready and Studio Drivers; NVIDIA RTX PRO users will continue receiving Control Panel support until the remaining professional features are fully migrated to the NVIDIA App. NVIDIA noted that the new app “runs faster and more efficiently” and now covers all modern functionality previously found in the Control Panel, including 3D settings, multi-monitor options, and Surround support — the last major features to be moved over in an August 2025 App update. The classic Control Panel’s Windows XP-era interface had been largely unchanged for years, making the migration gradual but widely anticipated among PC enthusiasts.
