Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited Xiaomi’s auto factory in Beijing on Tuesday, the third day of his state visit to China. He spent about five minutes inside a newly released Xiaomi electric vehicle at the factory showroom, testing its voice-activated system — which responded to his request for Serbian music by playing the country’s national anthem. Vucic wrote on social media that the facility was “amazing,” noting that around 2,000 robots operate the plant across two shifts to produce 1,500 vehicles daily. He extended an open invitation for Xiaomi to consider Serbia as a potential investment destination in Europe, and also invited the company to showcase its products at EXPO 2027.
The factory visit was one of three stops on Vucic’s Tuesday schedule. He earlier delivered a speech to about 130 students and faculty at Tsinghua University, where he said China’s development was the result of “knowledge, hard work, education and long-term effort” — not accidental. He also visited the Museum of the Communist Party of China, writing in the guest book that the stop offered “a unique chance to deepen my knowledge of the development of China under the leadership of the CPC.” During his Tsinghua remarks, Vucic pointed to Chinese participation in Serbian infrastructure projects and a Chinese company’s takeover of the Smederevo Steel Mill — which he said preserved about 5,000 local jobs — as concrete examples of bilateral cooperation.
