Proxmox VE 9.2 released with Dynamic Load Balancer, Linux kernel 7.0, and expanded SDN

Proxmox Virtual Environment 9.2 was released in May 2026, based on Debian 13.5 “Trixie” with Linux kernel 7.0 as the new default. Key component versions: QEMU 11.0, LXC 7.0, ZFS 2.4, Ceph Tentacle 20.2.1, Ceph Squid 19.2.3.

Dynamic Load Balancer (headline feature)

  • New dynamic Cluster Resource Scheduler (CRS) monitors node and guest resource utilisation in real time
  • Automatically live-migrates HA-managed guests to balance cluster load while respecting HA rules
  • Configurable aggressiveness and sensitivity; replaces manual balancing scripts

Expanded Software-Defined Networking (SDN)

  • Native WireGuard VPN and BGP dynamic routing integration
  • BGP/EVPN filtering via route maps and prefix lists
  • OSPF route redistribution, EVPN controller options, and IPv6 underlay support
  • SDN dry-run mode for safe network configuration testing

HA cluster management

  • New disarm-ha / arm-ha commands to temporarily disable and re-enable HA cluster-wide during maintenance windows while preserving resource state

Custom CPU model management

  • Web UI now supports creating, editing, and deleting custom CPU profiles from the Datacenter section
  • Cluster-wide visibility into supported CPU flags

VM and container improvements

  • Live snapshots with TPM on supported storages; TPM support extended to iSCSI and ZFS-over-iSCSI
  • Improved VNC support and extended aarch64 architecture support
  • Containers: new mount point options, seccomp filtering, OCI User property support; cgroup v1 deprecation warning added

Security

  • Mitigations for Crackarmor, copy.fail, DirtyFrag, Fragnesia, ssh-keysign-pwn, and pintheft
  • Enhanced VNC session protections and privilege checks on VM actions
