MX Linux 25.2 "Infinity" released with updated kernels, text-based installer, and microcode live support

MX Linux 25.2 “Infinity” was released on May 25, 2026. All editions ship with Debian 6.12.90 kernels and incorporate all updates through Debian 13.5; the Xfce AHS variant uses a 7.0.9 Liquorix kernel, and AHS-enabled releases include Mesa 26.0.1. Existing users do not need to reinstall — all changes arrive through the standard update channel.

Notable changes this release:

antiX live system

  • Initial setup actions during live boots moved out of rc.local
  • live-kernel-updater now supports installing multiple kernels simultaneously, selectable from the GRUB boot menu
  • Semi-automatic persistence saving returns to sysVinit live boots (systemd live boots fall back to automatic)
  • MX Snapshot and live-kernel-updater now generate microcode-enabled live systems when uc-tool-mx is installed

MX Installer (gazelle-installer)

  • Edge-case bug fixes and translation updates
  • Native systemd units for OOBE/OEM mode (used on the Raspberry Pi spin)
  • New text-based TUI mode: full installer feature parity in non-graphical environments, accessible via sudo minstall --tui

Also included: numerous mx-tool updates, mx-ease-themes updates, and new wallpapers. A Raspberry Pi respin (mx25.2_rpi_respin.zip) is also available.
